The short film program Motionless Stars opens a door to discover new worlds through assertiveness, listening, and mutual respect via the stories that bring them to life.
The three narratives propose a journey that transports us to unique visual universes based on the symbolism of colors and shapes. They speak of coexistence, the possibility of discovering where each person comes from, and the significance of undertaking these emotional journeys.
In Motionless Stars, we meet Chenghua, a nine-year-old girl who has to take on the responsibility of being a translator for her Chinese parents, and seeks to escape with her passion for space. In Luce and the Rock, we discover the friendship between two characters who, despite seeming to have nothing in common, face their fear of the unknown together. In the fable The Birth of Oases, a cold-blooded snake and a hot-blooded camel become friends until the end of their days.
Motionless Stars concludes the series of three short film programs formed by The Wind's Boat and The Island of Birds. Each of them features a medium-length film starring a pre-adolescent girl, thus forming a trilogy of initiatory stories of contemporary heroines.
